ANZ opens branch in western China PDF Print E-mail

(March 25, 2011)

ANZ Banking Group has opened another branch in Chongqing, western China, the nation's second-fastest growing region.

Chief executive Mike Smith and the Mayor of Chongqing on Thursday opened the branch, which will target commercial and institutional clients in the city.

Chongqing has the biggest number of corporate and foreign financial institutions in western China.

Chongqing's gross domestic product grew by 17.1 per cent in 2010.

The ANZ branch would provide cash management, trade and supply chain and relationship banking services in RMB and foreign currency, ANZ said in a statement.

ANZ has another branch at its rural bank in Liangping county, on the outskirts of Chongqing, an ANZ spokesman said.
